My car has no O2 sensors and is converted to Carb.....can I use any wideband A/F gauge?

Sure, if you install an O2 sensor in the exhaust.

You can run just about any wideband. I use the AEM unit in my street driven car, it has helped a lot in tuning the EFI. I bought a Autometer unit for another project, but I don't have any experience with it just yet.

The autometer gauge I am looking at comes with one, and i have the bungs in my long tubes. This may sound stupid, but does it matter which header I put it in?

If you hook it to only one header, you will only get the A/F reading on that side. If you want it just for looks that is OK, but if you want a true reading I would hook it up to both sides of the exhaust. Hope this helps.

I only tune off of one side. As long as everything is good in the motor its not going to matter which one you read from.

yeah, for the most part one side should be fine. Unless you plan on doing something wonky with the heads individually, lol.
however, if you did end up having something go bad on the one side (like an injector or spark plug) it wouldn't be reflected in your A/F reading.

You got a 50/50 shot at it being on the side your WB is on. Then if you drop a cylinder and it doesn't show on the WB, its on the other side.

Yup, basically. At MW09 my car dropped a cylinder in the Foxbody Cruise and it didn't show lean on the WB(because its an oxygen sensor NOT a fuel in exhaust sensor) so I instantly went to the passenger side and Wa-La, a plug wire had come out of the loom and fell on the header and burnt it in two.

That is why I designed my own gauge cage. I'm just waiting for the gauges to get here.
