My car started out as an auto so none of this has ever been right. When I changed it over I installed a tremec 3550 w/pro 5.0 shifter. I never had the actual boot that bolts to the floor pan. I've just always kept a big rag stuffed around the hole to keep the exhaust and noise out. Well I got my hands on a boot (the one that seals between the tunnel and the shifter not the leather shift boot). I tried to install it but it wasn't going to work. I recently got sick of dealing with my tremec's crap and swapped to a T5. I thought great now I can install the boot and everything will seal up nice.....Wrong my t5 has a hurst shifter on it and the stupid boot still wont go on. Am I just going to have to go back to my rag???? What are you guys doing?

Can you not unbolt the handle off the shifter body. I have a MGW in mine and I used the stock lower and upper boot.

i've always had to slit the boot to get it to work on an aftermarket shifter.

I think if I cut it I might could make it work. It took me a while to find one so I was leary of cutting it..Are any of you guys running the Hurst shifter? I guess the main problem is the stops stick out so far thats where I'm running into the most interference

every time i've reused one of those rubber boots i've had to slit it for it to work. usually at least have to slit it at the front and rear, sometimes on the sides.

Dang I'm thinking I may just stuff the old rag back in there. It worked fine before.

The boot stretches I have a tko 500 and I just forced it down to the mounting bolts that hold the handle on. I also had it on a 3550 with a steeda shifter and it worked fine.:headscratch:
