that i cannot get figured out. its with our white 90 gt. the starter works fine till the car gets hot then the starter wont turn the motor over. it only happpens in the summer or during hot weather. it kinda acts like the battery is dead. if you keep trying to crank it the ground off the batt get extremely hot. you have to hit the key on and off then it will suddenly turn over and start. i have replaced all the cables, the battery, the starter 5 freaking times, and the starter sylanoid <spelling.. what the hell is going on. it has been plaguing me for 2 years now:bat:

you probably know this but the timing can cause that issue.also check all the grounds.make sure they are clean and tight.could be ignition switch but i doubt that is the problem.

I would think timing or ground also. I had the same problem with my coupe. I grounded the battery better and put a good ground from engine to body and my problem went away.

This sounds like the logical answer......Make sure the ground on the T-cover is clean and tight.....As well as the strap off the back of the drivers side head to the firewall.......I have even seen instances to where, you have to run a extra ground from the motor to the frame,to get everything working properly.....

i would also think timming but i have backed it way off and still get the same results. it dont do it every time but it only does it when it is hot out and the engine is hot

I would say ground issue also. Try a ground from the battery to the block.

Have you changed out the TPI Module on the base of the distributor?? Reason I ask, is cause you say it only happens when the car/motor is hot.
Oh and T-cover = timing cover:thumbsup1:

Do you have long tubes on the car? It sounds like your starter is getting heat soaked. My factory starter was fine with the longtubes for about 3 years before it started having the symptoms yours is. I replaced the starter & it has been fine since - thank God.
