I' ve never stroked a motor before and I was thinking about getting a 347 stroker kit for the motor in my coupe (302). I was wanting to know how much difference stroking would make with horsepower. Thanks:headscratch:

I've had no problems from my 347. It isn't a question of long lasting but making power. If you want it to last a long time get a windsor motor.

Thanks for your input. I was looking at this kit from Brother's Performance for $987. Is there anything else you would sugest that would boost horsepower a lot?
If you use the right 347 kit, you want have any longevity problems. Also the proper machine work is very critical to great and long lasting performance. What is the complete setup now, and what will it be. We would need all this info, to help give you a educated guess on hp.

Right now it is stock. I bought a edelbrock preformer rpm intake and a 650 carb to go on it. It has a 373 rear end. I've got a king cobra setup for the trans. I've also got a alum. radiator and electric fan. I know there is still plenty of things that can be done I just need to know what is the best way to go. Thanks.

I've had my 347 for about 5 years now, started out in my ford ranger drag truck then made it's way into my notch. more torque than a 5.0. Mine was built at D.S.S.. Never had any problems with the engine was running 18 psi of boost and 100 shot nitrous in my truck. When i got ready to put it it my notch i pulled it down and checked all the bearing specs and they were perfect. Highly recommend.:thumbsup1:

Thanks man!:thumbsup1:
What kind of heads/cam do you have, or plan to run. If you have stk heads, then you don't need a 347. Unless you plan to put new heads on the 347.

Both of Greg's posts are right on the money here ( no surprise at all ! ), and you really need to look at what the supporting hardware is going to be. It's important on any buildup to look at the heads/cam/intake as a group that needs to work well together. In your case you want to pick a group that will work well on a larger and more powerful engine than you have now. E7 heads choke out stock 302's, and the factory .444 cam wouldn't be doing any favors either. Now include those items on a 347 and it's easy to imagine it choking while trying to breathe through a straw. Tell us what your goals/intended use are, and we can recommend a good combo for your consideration...

I do not know if you are going to build it yourself or if you would want to buy a short block. I bought a short block from D & D motorsports in Calli, and I love it. It is in a new block with factory bore and stroker crank = 342cid. Right now with out a tune it is a little scarry on the street (for the limited time it has seen the street).
