If things go my way  I may be ready to have my 85 F150 that I've been working on painted. The two guys that I've used in the past no longer paints so my options have kind of went away. I may possibly still be able to get one of the guys to paint, but still not sure how that will work out.

so do any of you here do a good paint job at a fair price? Let me know.

thanks,
Josh

I am going to paint mine too.I hope the painting is easy b/c the prep is definitely a pain in the a$$. I am almost ready to spray mine here soon.I am going to trim everything out then, hang everything and then spray the whole car. That seems to be my best bet.

im sure i will get hammered for this and told my compressor wont work but here is what im doing:

craftsmen 150psi 20 gallon compressor used for $75
cheap HLVP paint gun with 1.4 mm tip
and going to my local john deere dealer and ordering 1 gallon of tractor primer and 1 gallon of blitz black tractor paint. Primer is $40 a gallon and paint was $37 a gallon

less then $200 for tools and paint. using palm sander and mouse sander. also multi 3m sanding paper from my local auto paint shop

its not a $200 paint job! your talking about econopaint and they dont really use paint. that stuff is elephant gz mixed with hardner and food coloring! :lol1: the price on paint is :thumbsdown1: i dont see how they get away with it. main thing for me is this is not a show car, its a car car.... to drive..... that type of paint will be durable and i wont have a stroke when some punk dings it :bat:

Interesting idea, would be good for me but paint booths arent cheap by any means, but I guess you can make some money back by painting other peoples cars.

what about painting with NO booth!?!?... ive seen really nice paint jobs come from driveway paint jobs.... BUT THEY USED GOOD PRODUCTS!!!

id say 75% of a nice looking paint job is PREP an PATIENTS

think we agree sir :yes1: the only real reason i got the gun and compressor was to prime the car. thats the test. if it passes, then i will paint it. if it does not, i take it to my friend.

I've painted without a booth and my old coupe was done without a expensive booth. Like Shawn said its mostly all in prep and good products...
