gas gauge

My gas gauge just starting going crazy on me. It will say full 1 sec then empty next and anywhere in between. I did drop the tank a couple months ago to mount a battery in the hatch but I didn't mess with anything. Any ideas?

Put a new sending unit in a try that.
That is one of those things that you dont really know the problem until you try something. If I had to guess I would say sending unit. Very rarely do the gauges in the dash go bad but still a possibility. I have noticed more v8 5 speed cars are the worst for gas gauges not working. I guess because they get driven harder and the constant sloshing of the gas back and forth breaks the sending unit. Just a therory of mine though... lol

I've been thru 3 sending units (kept thinking I was gettin bad parts) My gauge still doesn't work. Good luck
