SO after letting the Stang sit for about 3 months I figure it's time to replace the transmission.

My question is (I haven't jacked it up to look at the tranny) do I just unbolt the tranny and get everything lined up?

Or if there is a write up someone knows about that would be great.
Thanks!

is this a t5? if so, first you need to drop the exhaust. then unbolt the driveshaft from the rear. that's 4 bolts and are prolly loctite. believe that is a 12 or 13 mm open ended wrench - may need a breaker bar. then slide ds out of trans. go inside the car and unbolt the shifter from the trans - 4 bolts there. go back under the car and unbolt the trans from the bellhousing - believe that's 4 bolts (theme here? lol). then you'll need to take the bolts outta the crossmember and lower the trans down and wiggle it out.

oh yeah - and will need to drain the trans fluid or plug it on the tailshaft so it won't leak out.

twelve point 12 mm...dont get it twisted:lol1: they make a tool specifically for those bolts.

dont forget the starter, reverse light, speedo cable and clutch cable and hope there is no loctite! :lol1: oh and be careful with the clutch. it can cut the crap out of your hand and expect the disk to fall even if it doesnt..... i learned the hard way

i couldnt find a 12 point socket for 12 mm. just used the 12 mm wrench and my foot on it while holding onto the car due to loctite. didnt use any when i put the driveshaft in and it was easy the next time when i pulled my motor

Just support the tranny. Them bell housings like to crack around the bolt holes.
