Cold air intakes??? I just got a FREE tube and factory air box with K&N panel filter. I just threw it on the car to see how it ran. MAN WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!! It ran 100x BETTER!!!! I knew my fenderwell kit was too small for my motor/maf combo but MAN. Now my A/F is steady where as before it was bouncing anywhere from 18.0-14.6 cruising down the highway. It has a TON more power and torque, almost got me in trouble, taking a corner and gave it a LITTLE gas and it broke the tires loose, I was doing 55 mph and it spins!!!! In 4th from a roll it will throw you into the rear seat. I thought a stroker SHOULD have more power than it did before but man its great now. I might start putting the stock parts back on it if it will go faster, LOL!!! That cold air kit is going into the garage to never been seen agian.

Right now I'm still running stock airbox w/ K&N panel filter......almost felt like I added a CAI when I removed the stock paper filter and installed the K&N. Did you install the TB yet?

Thats why my C/A/I is going in the garbage, and stock stuff is going back in. The stock unit works just like a C/A/I :yes1: When I bought my car, they already put a crappy C/A/I on the car.:thumbsdown1:

When I get my JLT the stock stuff might come back off, but it might be too tempting.

Try it both ways and see which works better.:yes1:

Most cai set-up that have the fenderwell mounted air filter cause problems because the air will swirl when it makes that first turn and it causes the maf meter to act crazy.

The Truth ^^ A correct setup will have no bend within twice the diameter of the MA, ft and back...the fox body MA is a poor design with the programming worked around it. 95% of the time, if you have a CAI you can rotate you MA 180 degrees and the car will run much different. Some setups will run a lot different with it just turned 90 degrees.

Best thing i ever did for my fox was a lightning maf with a straight shot to it.Fixed all me drivability issues and ran so much better.

That is probably the best way if your running a electric fan. But if still running the stock fan, the fan wash can play havoc on that setup.

Well I'm thrilled with the stock air box and K&N. It runs better, smoother down the road and it drive more "free-er". It doesn't labor to do 80mph, just smooth. Exhaust is quiter now because it will turn the rpm without having to "suck" the air throught the fenderwell kit.

<--- runs the stock airbox and k&n here. cold air intakes are junk. unless your cold air is in the form of nitrous.

Is the accordian looking hose between the throttle body & maf worth replacing? I would think that it restricts some airflow. If yes, besides C&L, who makes one worth a flip?...every one i've seen rubs the strut tower.

Had a stock airbox with a panel K&N when I first dropped in the new motor. Switched to a complete Pro-M setup with the tube and open element filter, and it was a HUGE difference the other way. Most of my problem was likely the first MAF, but it sure picked up a ton when I swapped out the stock stuff. I just put my old setup on a buddy's kids new 90GT/AOD, and he could readily feel the difference too, so I guess it's all in what the combo wants...
