Well took it out for another test drive tonight and it was doing great. The boost comes on FAST! I was trying to not boost it and the second it see's load it just build instantly!!!
I was driving around and a subaru revs it and makes his blow off valve whistle so I couldn't resist. I put it in third and gave it some gas and it went to 9psi I let off instantly and my blow off valve goes off like a cut air hose then the wastegate starts chattering and I think I made the subaru guy cry. :happydance:
So I drive it home and decide to do one more very very short boost pull and I blow the clamp that was holding the mass air meter to the intake pipe. :headbang:
Easy fix just funny.

Putting a turbo on is the best thing I have ever done to my car! It is so much fun to drive I cant stop!
I was driving down the road varying my rpm to brake it in and boosting it just a little and I decide to do a very mild 3rd gear pull. It boosted instantly and it started spinning! :eek1:
I let out but it was the best!
Oh well gotta go drive some more see you guys later. :hi:

Well I guess it was only a matter of time but my T-5 grenaded. I didn't rev and dump the clutch or shift hard, I just had it in third and got on it then BOOM . . . rattle . . . rattle. :lol1: Limped it home with only 4th gear.
I was planning on putting in the Astro Performance T-5 kit but I couldn't pass up the deal on the T-56 that Palmetto had for sale. I am picking it up this weekend so soon I will be rowing thru 6 gears!

It was only a matter of time.:yes1: The T-56 your buying, is it a stock one out of a Cobra? Or has it been built. If it's stock, might as well save some money and get another T-5 to blow up. There is a reason the Cobra guys pull the T-56's out.

I think it is the stock 500 ft lb. I plan on driving it untill next year then upgrading it to viper spec.
I don't do any launches, nor do I powershift so it should be fine for driving around on the street untill I beef it up some more.

I havn't put it on the dyno yet nor have I taken it to the track. I knew the trans wouldn't hold so I have been putting it off.
I am going to use the down time to clean up the engine bay some more. I am moving the battery to the trunk and I am putting in new carpet.

As long as you don't beat on it, you should be fine. When you upgrade to the Viper specs, then you can really haves some fun.

Where did u get the turbo kit at ? and is the bottom end of the motor stock?
fast50
12-13-2008, 05:29 PM
Its a BG turbo kithttp://bgturbokits.com
Yes the bottom end is stock forged components. I rebuilt it for the turbo kit. The only thing I upgraded was all arp hardware. The block should split before the bottom end lets go.

Wow this past two months has sucked! I have been putting in the six speed and didn't really have any problems until I went to put the crossmember in, the stuff I bought from palmetto pony parts used a Kenny brown mounting system. Normally I love Kenny brown stuff but I really didn't like this mount for two reasons. 1. You have to drill about six holes thru your floor and transmission tunnel. (I do not like to drill holes in my car!) 2. The way it is made you really need full length subframe connectors and they need to be Kenny brown. Considering you can’t really buy Kenny brown parts for foxbodies any more and I refuse to drill holes in my flooring I decided I would look for a different mount. I did a little research and the the two most popular mounts being used where HPM and AJE. Latemodel restoration carries both so Dec I called them up and discovered that HPM is out of business. HPM is the one D&D uses and by far the most popular. So I ordered the AJE. They told me it would take 2 weeks since AJE is closed for Christmas. No problem I had other things I could do, so I waited, and waited, and waited 3 weeks later I call and Latemodel tells me it will be 2 more weeks (no reason). 2 weeks later no crossmember, I call them up and they say it will be 2 more weeks (no reason why and they really acted like they didn't care). Being the really nice guy that I am I tell them they suck and they should be looking into the reason this is taking so long. I get off the phone and use the Google machine to find AJE. I call them up and explain I have ordered a crossmember thru latemodel and nobody knows why it is taking so long. They explain they have had some problem with materials and personnel and they have some in the powder coating shop and they will ship out in the next two days. I call latemodel back up and explain to them how I had to do their job for them. Three days later I get the crossmember in and as soon as I pull it out of the box I notice the mounts that go to the frame rails are not quite parallel too each other. I get under the car and sure enough it will not fit, and even if it did fit the mount would basically push the transmission thru the floor pan. So I box it up send it back to latemodel and get the welder out and 1 hr later I have made a crossmember and my transmission is in! I am just finishing a little bit of wiring on the inside but it should be on the road this weekend!!!
Yeah, making cross members are really easy. I made mine from scratch for my pg, and don't see why people pay so much for the aftermarkets.

if you dont mind me asking... how much do you have in the whole kit?
the masterpower turbo seem solid so far?
im VERY VERY close to swaping from my set-up to a BG kit!... on the fence still :goodvsevil:
fast50
02-28-2009, 02:08 PM
I paid $2500 for the kit. Brian has them on sale right now for $2500 free shipping. The only thing it does not come with that you need are injectors and a mass air (blow thru).
I love the MasterPower turbo. It has been great. They had some problems a few years back but they started putting larger shafts in them and that fix the problem. I learned about them on turbomustangs and everybody was really impressed. I know some people will say if you have to send it off it takes along time but you don't have to have MasterPower rebuild them, other turbo rebuilders can fix them. Alot of people have well over 10,000 - 15,000 hard miles on them with no problems. Besides for the money you can buy 3 MasterPowers for what 1 of some others cost.

Well I'm kind of bummed out, I upgraded my brakes and spindles to SN-95 up specs and put the FR500's on and I don't like the way it looks. :(
Going to pull it out tomorrow in the light and look at again, maybe the light in the garage made it look bad. If it doesn't look any better I guess I will have some wheels and tires for sale. . . .

I'd love to see what a set of '93 cobra r's would look like on your car. I do actually like the three spoke wheels on YOUR car. Even though they are UGLY. Something about it just looks right.
GT's seem harder to pick what wheel would look right. If it was an lx I would say the fr500's or the 10th anniversary wheels would be amazing.
I don't know.

I don't think it is the GT as much as the color. I have now found other black foxes with grey fr500's that I don't think look very good. If I had seen those before I would have known. Its not the grey it's the small spokes with the grey that I think doesn't look right. I got a pic of a silver fox with silver fr500's and it looks fine.
I really at heart want a wheel that everybody doesn't have, I don't necessarily want be the only one but I just want something that hasn't been on every fox you see.
I don't really like the 93 cobra r look. I am not a big fan of black wheels. I have seen lots that I like but it has to be the right color car to pull it off.
