Ok so as most of you have seen or heard by now Ol Blue is at this moment un-drivable.

So....this thread will be full of the latest happenings to repair the car and new modifications being done through out the process.
To start of the Mod's to the car, the night before the accident (above) I had already made plans to possibly purchase some new wheels for the car. Got such a good deal I went ahead and got them...
picked these up from a guy off SVTP for 400.00 (all four real 10th Anniversary Cobra Wheels).

More to come Monday when I get back in town and hear more from the insurance company's.

The plan for the Cobra R's is nothing right now... I'll probably sell them though to pay for tires for the new wheels.

Did you get rid of the cobra r's yet?
I am with Nationwide, and am happy. I've been with them for over 5yrs now, and it's hard to find anyone cheaper. We had a claim with my wifes old Maxima, and they sent out a adjuster. I already had a estimate, and his was alittle more than the one I had. I was'nt even there, and he left a check right there on the spot, in the mail box. So, no complaints so far!

Been with them since 1986 myself, never one problem either. Parents have been with them since the early 60's.

Another State Farm customer here. I've been with them since 1987, and i dont think I'd ever switch to anyone else. Years ago I had a fire in one of my trucks, they paid enough to fix the damage and even have some money left over. A year AFTER the claim a guy called from the main office informing me that they'd charged me my deductible when they weren't supposed to for fire. He'd reviewed the case and saw that I hadn't received any monies for items lost inside the cab of the truck either. Needless to say that a year after the fact, and already in a new truck, I got ANOTHER check from them for $1500 ! I LOVE 'em !!!
I like your choice in rims, thats likely my absolute fave in 5 lug wheels, and I know it's my fave in factory rims. Your car is going to look GREAT with those ! :thumbsup1::thumbsup1::thumbsup1:

State Auto finally got back to me today.
Here's the scoop of crap they handed me....
-1856.00 is the value of my car, they will not repair only total.
-If they total I get 1456.00, or I get the car plus 456?
So yeah, thinking I'm def going to be keeping the car. Anyone know any good body shops?
Notch93
12-30-2008, 08:20 PM
They want you to buy the car back for $1,000? It should be, buy the car back for $456, and they give you a $1,000.:yes1:
When my 89 was totaled, State Farm only wanted $250 to buy the car back.
Don't take their first offer, play hardball with them.
BW90GT
12-30-2008, 08:24 PM
Well from the sound of it when I told them *cough cough* we had 2000 in the motor alone (just to get them not to total it possibly) she said they accepted 1500 added to the value so yes it should def be buy it back for 495.00 but I guess buying it back for a 1000 or close to it is the deductible etc.
Notch93
12-30-2008, 08:31 PM

Ok......if your value is 1856.....why do you only get 1456? Are they charging you a deductible? That doesn't make sense to me.
Here is what you need to ask them...how are they coming to $1856 in the first place? it's not like you can go out there and buy a Foxbody in any decent condition for less then 2000.....much less a V8. The salvage value for your car should be around 200-300 range....not 1000. Heck my daughters 2000 Focus salvage value was $931.00 so I don't see how the value on a fox mustang would be higher than that.
Tell them you want 3000.00 for your car or 2500 and keep the car....see what they say. Keeping the car and getting 456 or letting them take it for 1456 to me is an insult and they can do better and they know they can.
Best of luck

12-30-2008, 09:16 PM
Yeah I'll def be calling back tomorrow and sticking it to them . And after this I think we're switching def. But I mean they offered me 7K for my Expedition when it was totaled!!!! And yeah Wayne that's completely right a nice V8 would be a great deal more. But I guess with the car having close to 200K miles that could play into effect....
None the less....:thumbsdown1:
Silver91Hatch
12-30-2008, 09:29 PM
Well its not a V8 car its a 4 banger, insured for a 4 banger price, anything you put into the car is up to you. My insurance value didn't go up when I put a cowl hood, black interior or TW heads. They send you a letter in the mail every year showing you the insurance value, if you want to up it its up to you, either way keep it and swap everything into a 4 banger coupe or a stripped V8 coupe.
Wayne's 88 GT
12-30-2008, 10:10 PM
Well, it may be vin# wise a 4 cylinder........but there is def something wrong if they're telling you the salvage value of your car is $1000.00 and they'll give you $456.00 and you keep the car. Heck......if the salvage value is 1000 then they should be offering you at least 2000 for it.

I hate to say it, but, this seems to be a downside of owning a fox. Book value is crap, but, the cars are always selling for way more than the book value. Insurance companies use the book value for figuring a repair vs total decision.
Last year, I got rear ended. They paid for the repairs, but, said anymore than 2k & it was totalled. Keep in mind, this was last year & a v8 car with around 110k miles at the time.

12-30-2008, 10:24 PM
This is EXACTLY why Scott and I have extra insurance added to all of our stangs. We have an extra 3grand added on top of the coverage for the upgrades we have done to them. Son, yall need to switch insurance companies and tell those jerk-offs where to go. I have always had Allstate and will NEVER have any other carrier.

Not always, last year my car was hit. The adjuster from Allstate (the kid who hit my car insurance) came out and told me since my car only had in the low 50K original miles, that he couldn't book it. He would have had to get an appraiser to appraise my car. Long story short, between fixing my car and the rental car, Allstate paid out over 8G's.

12-31-2008, 06:54 AM
Well I would've def. upped the insurance but I never see any of that stuff grandma does since the car is still in her name but regardless (keep or get another one) it'll def be getting a healthy boost for coverage!
And as of right now I'm really thinking I want to keep it and just fix it, cause everyone seems to love the color, as do I, and last night I walked out to the car and put one of the new wheels up to it and it looked just sick so....lol We'll just have to see what happens in the next day or well week since I'm sure if I call today I'll be lucky to hear something before Monday.

Well we have a hook up on a complete Quarter for $100 here local. Going to go look at it Saturday. From there it will be up to Brad to get the cash saved up to have it fix.
