Project Ol' Blue

Hello All,

Here is a thread on the work in progress that is my 1990 GT, it was originally a 4 cylinder, bought converted from eBay in February 2007. Bought it replaced the clutch (thank you Johnny), then saw it had a blown head gasket. Replaced the gasket (thank you dad) and then the car wouldn't hold oil pressure so Chuck (badass) took it up to his place in NC and was going to do an entire rebuild for me. And due to no funds at the time, I'm in a band that is a bigger money pit than the car haha, so we brought it back down here (Thanks anyway Chuck). And well fast forward to June 2008... The Car has been in my backyard for a while and my step-mother calls and asks, "Would you like your car fixed for graduation?" Of coarse I said yes! Who would turn that down? So Dad and I drive up to Canton, NC to pick up a motor out of a totaled GT Hatch, and Peter and his father have been working on it for the past week or so and here are the pictures...

Yeah I always told dad in that second picture it looked like they were there, and you never know some day they might be, I actually love the darker look in that picture, and seeing as I need to get a new hood eventually, I may go darker...:yes1:

And Skip thanks a lot, I know the guys with me really appreciate the kind words, and we are in talks with a new management group that actually seem to have thing together, I booked more shows alone than the last one did.... So that gives you an idea of how terrible they were haha

After Peter, Dad and I talked for a few minutes I think we've decided to use one of the other valve cover sets and paint them the same color as the intakes etc, that way it'll match and not look like we've got three shades of silver going on haha!

Think we need two of three bolts to finish everything, then she should be about ready to drop into place! Looks great, Thanks again Peter for all the help!:)

After the battery acid was grinded off, the rest sanded off, then media blasted....Little work getting that crud off!

Peter and Dad were like you know we could go ahead and 2nd day a stage 1 Trickflow Cam (for example) and throw it on their while we got it like this lol....Ahhhh peer pressure! But for real once I'm used to driving it, I believe I've decided on doing the full Twisted Set-up, then upgrading the Trans, and then topping that off with a S or T trim Vortech! :thumbsup1:

Thats a good one to work towards, but I'll keep yall in mind in case I stumble across a sweet deal. I lucked into a few good packages last year and passed the savings along to Stern, Wilsmoku, Special Fred, and Jayde as a result. I'll shout if I find anything worth looking into...

Just get used to driving the thing for now and enjoy it. Worry about modded motor and power adder down the road.:yes1:

Just drive it for a while and enjoy it.:yes1: If you want you can use a degree wheel, and retard the stock cam, that would give you more then a stage 1 cam. Then save your money for a nice set of heads and an intake, and a cam.

You can add just the Vortech, but I would have Greg port the lower intake. The stock lower intake is the bottle neck.

sorry but we got to disagree here.the waste of time is because people throw in an x cam with stock 100,000 mile springs and then wonder where the power went.the proper springs with a stage 1,b or e,etc cam will make more power and is worth the effort when the motor is on the stand.anyway brad you need to call chuck and get the lunati i had in that motor.remember the sound you liked so much.there it is.

Dang, I would but I don't think Peter and my Dad would really want to have to strip the motor back down again! But def. miss that sound haha! We'll have to talk later down the road. After this last purchase that's it for the car. Had to set my priorities straight.......long story......

This I still can't really believe....This is the box that was built for my expedition.....Housing 2 Apline Type S 12" Subs...It fit perfectly flat but, the hatch wouldn't close. So Dad and I angled it and it fit perfectly!

Well actually I think the way they sit the bottom of the hatch covers them, thus the box shouldn't/won't be seen, and plus my back window is pretty much black haha.

Luckily this is the first one that has gone against it, so yeah def slowing down, this one was def. my fault. Corey (bass player) and I were coming back from NC (from 221 to 74W) after a long day of recording, and we didn't have the trailer behind us anymore and going down that long boring stretch was killing me cause I was getting tired. But it was no reason to speed, but hey the State Trooper left me a comment on my ticket I found out in Court, "He was a super nice kid!" haha But yeah I'm planning on switching the insurance on at least the truck and the truck's payments into my name asap. Or if nothing else paying Grandma my part!

And yeah the Mustang will just be a cruiser, and as big of a difference as it is from 45 in the truck to 45 in a stang, I think that'll def. suffice! haha And it'd better!:yes1:

thats the best way to learn, i've been driving stick since i was like five but taylor has just about got it down pact after drive like 10 times and my mom let him drive my car the other day and i was about to cry:sad1:

Brad did much better with me teaching him to drive his car and with a little more practice it will have it down to a science but until WE feel he has it and knows the car well enuff, for his safety he wont be driving w/out Scott, Pat or I with him.

Thanks again everyone! Dad drove the car out to our show at Greenridge today (Best Buy etc on Woodruff in Greenville), and boy let me tell ya it looks sharp to me at least, and that's all that matter haha!

Ok well I'm told I'm off first of the week b/c Magna is gonna shut down THursday-Wednesday so we can get in and finish everything there, so I'll def be down Monday unless Corey decides to go to Asheville to check out a bass amp, I may ride with him. But non the less I'll be up there at some point haha
