Do u mean a 460 big block or the old 360 fe engine that was in trucks in the 60's.... if ur talking about a 460 its not that hard they make a swap kit and u can use ur stock k member... but i would suggest a tubular k member to lighten up the front end..

You must not know what your talking about...Or you had a bad one. FE engines make killer power, they are just heavy as hell. Unless you just want to be different stick with the 302-351 based stuff.

Parts r pricey for them if u want big block power just build a 460!

I used to know all the part numbers, bore sizes, and stroke sizes by heart, when i used to run this stuff back in the 80's...Alot of the FE stuff will interchange. The 390 stuff is the easiest to find. If i was dead set on using the FE stuff, i'd look for some 390 parts to use. Aluminum heads for the FE are the same price as SBF stuff. But all the internal stuff is going to be pricey. I've thought about using the FE myself for one of these cars, i still have some 428 stuff sitting around.

Me and my dad have a 63 galaxie that we will someday redo... we have a 390 with 427 low riser heads with a dual quad edelbrock intake with the factory cast iron long tubes... i love the old 60's land yaut cars!

IDK....I've never heard of an oiling problem with the FE. Especially on just one side? I always cleaned up the oil passages and even opened up the passages to the pump with my stuff, maybe thats why i never had any problems. But i do that with all my stuff. Even when my stuff was stock i never had oiling problems. I did twist an oil pump shaft off once, but thats the only trouble i ever had, oiling wise...

I have one of those cars in my trailer behind the shop. Mine is a Fastback 63 1/2....I've been fixing that thing up since i was 16, just never seem to keep an interest in it.

IDK either. I have only seen 1/2 dozen of them (Built motors) and ever one of them wouldn't oil very good. As in the rockers would get hot and lock up.

I'd be looking at the machine shop with that deal. I've had dozens of those things apart and back together, and never once had a problem with oil, EVER...I wish i had my old Fairlane back, i'd put one of my 428's back together.

LOL....Lightweights weighed 3400 lbs....Crites makes fiberglass hoods, fenders, and bumpers for those cars. But even butt naked, there gonna be heavy as hell. Thats why i lose interest in the car. Because i know, no matter how light i get it, it's still gonna be a pig...I used to have a couple Fairlanes back in the day, they were the lightweight Fords of the 60's. I like the Galaxie's, but they are just to heavy for what i want to do with them...

Yeah there heavy but it brings my dad back to when he had a new 63 galaxie with a 427 dual quad with the 4 speed toploader and 4.56 gears... i enjoy listening to his storys of racing and cruising.... still even being heavy it will still be a cool car to play around with!

Yeah crites is the company we were looking at for the fiberglass parts... maybe one day! Lol

My dad had one of those cars to when he was young. They were the Foxbodies of their day. That's how i learned about the FE engines. That's all i used to be around when i was a kid. Back when i was in high school people still drove 60's cars every day. I'd like to eventually get my car back together, but it would take ALOT of time and money, and i just don't really want to put that much in it at this time. I keep telling myself i will one day, but it hasn't got here yet.

It would probably be cheaper to just stick with 5.0

You may be confusing the FE for the 351m. They were notorious for oiling issues. People who built them would run oiling line to the passenger side somehow.

its atlease an 360 big block out thinkin about takin it out my old OLD truck its an 73 f-100 4x4 it runs good and haves headers already on it could use a intake for an 4 barrell it only got an 2 barrell right now
332,352,360,361,390,406,410,427,428 engines all used the 352 block. But I think only the 360 and 390 were available for the the 73 f-100. If you still have the vin #, the 4 th digit will tell which it is 360 2bbl (Y), 390 2bbl (H), 390 4bbl (M). Also, I assume the 2bbl intake is the stock one, is the id tag still on it. If so here is a great link to break down the tag #s. http://fordification.net/tech/engineIDtags.htm
Now, with that being said. Foxes are already nose heavy and FE engines are real heavy. It would be cheaper and lighter to build a 302 or 351w to put in it. But if your determined to stuff a big block in, a 460 would be an easier swap. Thats my 2 cents. Good luck either way!

.....I have had a number of those engines in different cars and trucks. Never had any oiling problems in them. I have had oiling problems in the old Y blocks when we usto use non detergent oil. I personally wouldn't use the FE in a Fox just to much weight. You could put a nice small block together for half the price of getting the FE running.
