they just passed a TON of stuff that pretty much makes it illegal to goto myrtle beach and do anything except goto their lame little beach which has ZERO wave action...
Bike Week is gone, and the 87db at idle deal is going kill mustang week and f-body week.

I could be mistaken, but I think Rodney from MW has already said this will not affect MW.
And yes I agree, them wanting not to have bike weeks, is going to hurt MB's economy.

I guess it would to some measure, but the damage, litter & clean up, vandalism, extra police on duty, arrests, etc that's associated with BIKE WEEK...I guess the merchants counted the cost and said, "It aint worth it"?
It's not a knee jerk reaction, but rather a pattern that's been well established. Sadly, it's the actions of a minority that seems to be spoiling it for all.
And no...I don't think it affects Mustang Week either.

Remember one thing, these restrictions are for myrtle beach, not conway little river murrells inlet pawleys island etc, not even north myrtle. this means we should be able to find other places to have shows and meet and greets. As far as I know Bike week is not cancelled yet. I would be surprised since a lot of it happens in murrells as far as the bars go. The bikers came down in oct to test the waters and last I heard they were makung maps of areas to avoid with the restrictions. MB will end up hurting itself and the other towns will profit from it.

And like 86vert said ALMOST ALL of Mustangweek happens OUTSIDE Myrtle Beach CITY city limits

If there is a will there is a way... and a meeting of the minds always give the citys chamber of commerce a call for final answers !

If it does effect us, I hope I have the Vert by then, because the Coupe would NEVER make it past the noise restriction LOL !

According to MW staff this won't change anything. Hell it wouldn't be the first time I've been pulled over for a loud car:taunt:

+1
They can make all the laws & crap they want....they still can't stop bikers from coming to MB. All they're gonna do is make them mad while they're here.

on Bike week cancellation. They are going to have it, but not inside MB city limits. I was down there years ago during the week in-between the 2 rallies. They do get crazy and make a lot of noise, clog traffic and litter. Most rest. were going to close the w/e before black bike week - waitresses said they would walk-out on the check most of the time. They would sell beer on the side of the road, so many would be hammered riding around. From what I've seen and heard, MW isn't associated with that kind of behavior.

Just goes to show with every kind of event there are a few that screw it up for the rest!! I must agree though...I think MW is in a different class:yes1:

I was just thinking about this subject today. I know there is all kinds of rumors and stories about cancelling bike week, problems with bikers and so on. Either way they(bike week participants) have made a bad name for theirselves, and it may cause problems for them with certain businesses and/or venders and sponsors. Or it may not. But anyway, I think we (MW participants) should try to make a different name for ourselves, and not get people, cities, businesses, vendors and sponsors to think badly of us. I enjoy MW and don't want things to go badly for this event. So I think we should try and be good, respectful people while we are there. To all the laws and regulations that are set whether we agree or not. And to the workers at businesses, restaurants, etc. And all of us here on SFB represent a club who is a sponsor and has sponsors and we don't want any of that to be affected by our bad attitudes and actions and disrespect. Lets set the example of being good people and club instead of being part of a problem.

well said. :patriot:
now if you could get everyone else that's going to MW in the same mindset, there would be no worries at all!

I am not sure about this but Ashleys grandparents have a place down there and they told us that they had been trying to get the Harley Bike Week, and the Black bike week tossed for years, the majority of the bikers come in, make a terrible mess, drive drunk, and a they have had quite a few folks get killed down there on the bikes too... I dont think they are looking to do away with Mustang Week, but it will be interesting to see if they crack down on the exhaust laws..... If they do thats definitely gonna kill the crowd..... We will see.......

this directly affects me and my ability to make a living, so I'm paying very close attention to this.
Bike week will be more regulated than in the past. The db rating is so strict that some bikes in stock unmodified form cannot pass. The business owners in the area were (and still are as far as I know) in the process of sueing over the loss of business.
Now the good news. I have spoken to several Harley riders who make the trip and they say that they have recieved notice from the chamber of commerce that BW was still on. The addresses were pulled from registrations, so it appears that MB has not gotten so stupid as to bite the hand that feeds it.
As far as MW goes, I don't see anything changing. They will not be doing DB checks on cars as far as I know, and I've asked the right people. The Mustang crowd is not a wild bunch. In fact, the event is actually not an "official" event as far as MB goes, so this may well work in our favor. as long as there are no bad incidents.
If I were planning a trip, I wouldn't let this stop me.

i agree, i think this year more than other years its goin to be very important for u to be on our best behavior while we r there. i lived about an hour from myrtle beach so we would go there on the weekends alot just to hng out for te day. they really did (still are) cracking down very hard on the bickers. if we show them that we can behave it will look very good as far as what we will be able to do next year.
that being said, the fact is the main focus of these new restrictions really ae centered around the city lmits. if we can behave inside city limits it should be much easy on us outside city limits

Ive noticed that one thing that usually pisses the cops and organizers off is, after the car show behind hooters most people that leave let'er eat when they take the right onto 17. Just about everybody slides outta there sideways, i cant say anything ive done it myself, but when i was just watching people do that they went as far as making us get away from the road so we wouldnt provoke it.

Yeah. I heard last year some were even arrested for "provoking" it.

WHAT? oh it'd be on... some how I doubt there is a law on the books that says "don't stand on the corner when the mustangs leave hooters because you will provoke them to break it loose"
besides...who the heck needs to be provoked by a person on the side of the road?? My car provokes me plenty enough on it's own!
