Hey i just bought a auto meter shift light and i have no idea how to hook it up. i know it goes into the cpu or somthing, can anybody help me!!!:thumbsup1:

which model did you get? Does it need to be hooked up to a tachometer to get triggered?

If it's just the shift light it need to be wired into the factory tach.i suggest getting a tach because the factories are so far off

12v Switched source,a ground, and the green signal wire goes to the negative side of the coil. (closest to fender on stock coil location)

its auto meter and it only has two wires, then at the end its like a plug. bout to upload some pics

You need to buy a tach. That is the one that comes with the tach itself. Not sure if you can hook that up without a tach

did u buy it used ??????? like fakesnake said that goes to a tach u will be better of getting a sportcomp tach it tells u the right readings sry i couldnt help u out

i had one of these hooked up in my black gt with out a aftermarket tach so theres got to be a way to hook it up, i'll see if i can find somthing on the interenet

That shiftlight is the plug-in unit for an autometer tach. If you buy a tach, it has to have a shiftlight output. Your other alternative is to buy the rpm activated switch to control the shiftlight.
