I got a 87-88 Turbo Coupe rear axles a couple months ago to make me a 4 lug disc brake rear end. I found out quickly it was 1.5" in total length too long for my car, because of the ABS rings on the axles needed room, sensors, etc. SO, instead of just tossing it out b/c my ponies barely fit in the wheel wells as it, I got to cutting. Threw away the T/C axles, installed a 31 spline carrier from an Explorer, got a set of 31 spline Moser axles and stabbed them in. Now the rotors hit the caliper bracket b/c they are 3/4" in on each side. I cut the brackets off and moved them to the other side of the mounting flange and added 3/10th of an inch spacer to the bolts. That fixed my rotor to bracket problem and now the calipers fit good, etc. Installed all the parts along with some 3.73's and I got 4 wheels disc brakes, right?? WRONG. The E-brake cables need to be changed to Motorsports items designed from a 93 Cobra. Now its good, right??? Wrong agian! Now the master cylinder needs to be changed for more fluid flow, the porp. valve needs to be gutted, and the body to axle brake hose needs to be switched. So after finding this all out and doing a lot of research I think I will be installing the rear end in the Coupe soon along with fixed length upper control arms, Southside lift lower arms, new rotors, pads, axle bearings, axle seals, pinion bearings and seal. I am just missing a few parts to get it 100% ready. 2 axle to caliper hoses, a rear diff girdle, grease and a small porp valve plug. I think that is all. If anyone is going to do this swap. AHHHH, make sure you have a lot of time and money to invest in a LITTLE BIT of extra stopping power. But I think it will be worth it if I get any kind of brake revealing wheels. Now the ponies and draglites cover the drums pretty good. If anyone is doing this and needs some help let me know.
