I talked with the Horry County Sheriff's Office a couple of weeks ago in reference to a couple of their guys meeting up with us at the speedway and stopping traffic when we pulled out. They said that would be fine and to call back a couple of weeks before the cruise. I callled them back this morning to confirm everything and they advised me now if we did a police escort we would need a special events permit and that would be $250. Well the only way around that would be to not ask for the escort and we still do the cruise without it like we have over the past few years. If anyone down that way can figure out another way around it feel free to try. It took me several days just to get anyone on the phone about this because I kept getting transfered to someone else.. Plus if we did the permit the we might not get it back in time for the cruise...

Well its worked every other year somewhat without the police but it would be awfully nice to have them so we could get good pictures. As far as the money I'd say if you make a post up asking everyone to donate I'd say it wouldn't be a problem to raise that amount of money. Maybe either one or two of our sponsers could step up;). Either way Ill be there having a blast it don't matter to me:patriot:

I say screw it, We can all re group once on Hwy 31. With most of the cash in the club's account going to Mustangweek sponsorship, we just don't have the extra for premits thsi year.

Let's see... we have almost 100 foxes in the cruise right? $2.50 per car would not be too much to ask at all. I say we get the escort and do it right. I hate being separated when trying to cruise with a group. I'll donate right now if I have to.

The only problem with that is that for those of us who were in the rear last year were left waaaay behind. I know I was well over 100 mph at one time trying to catch up. The only way this thing will work is for the lead car to crawl until everyone is on the road and rolling. The STOP sign really screwed us because there was traffic coming so we had no choice but to wait. I wanted to be toward the back so we could get some cool pix, but like I said we never got caught up until we were almost at the mall. We need some help blocking traffic and once everyone is on the same road just keep it tight, and it should be ok from there unless we get caught at traffic lights. It may be a good idea to get some of those two way radios and give them to the front car, a middle car, and the last car so everyone is on the same page.

I agree with Bones also. We can get on 31 and slow down so everyone is caught up.

It's not the money problem. We put the $250 deposit down and we still might not get the permit, then if that happens there won't be a cruise. So we going to do it without it. We are going to haeve two way radios this year in the front middle and rear and we will keep the line together!! PROMISE!!!!!!!!!!!

Good idea. Also as someone mentioned above good idea to have the line creep out. I think the main thing to stress before we head out is everyone stay tight and together. Watching the video of people pulling out last year before people even got to the stop sign there was huge gaps between the cars. Of couse if everyone is flying out it is hard to stay real close to the car in front of you but if everyone is just rolling out slowly its easier to stay tight in formation.

KB and myself will "run" the route that Monday and find a spot on Hwy 31 to pull off (like we did the first year). Once we hear from the LAST car in line that all are together and lined up, we will pull back out onto the Hwy and roll at 45mph and STAY Single File in the right hand line. This will give a few photographers time to do some rolling shots of everyone.:thumbsup1:

You sure KB will be able to "run" the whole route? I mean he is a bigger guy and the heat is gonna be bad, why don't you all just take a car :lol1:
Sorry it was tooo easy:taunt:

This will be my first year, but this sounds like a good idea. That sounds like a good time to get some still shots of us all lined up! (looks like that's what you guys did in the past....I have seen several shots of all the cars lined up alongside the highway).

I think thats a good idea with stopping on 31. pulling out of the parking lot was fun last year but the biggest problem there is the gaps never had enough time to close before we got on the main road, I think thats what really screwed people up.
I know there are a few people who can take the traffic lanes into their own hands, we just need to have a couple ready to steal lanes if we have to. (I think any SSP stangs should be put on "Traffic control")

If I were taking 92 (ex SC SSP), I could do that. It still has the wig-wag on it. But, unfortunately I am not.

I don't understand this. If we have already put the money up for a permit, then why wouldn't we get it?
KB do you have any chloroplast board we could use to make some signs? you can vinyl cut some directions/arrows. ide be game to help hang them up. to give route directions.
