OK gang, seeing how gas is getting harder to come by these days, and lack of feedback, I think it is best that we cancel Family Day until next spring sometime. I was so looking forward to i, but with the way economy is right now, I just don't think we would have the turn out you and me would want for our first annual Family Day. :sad1:
SEFB Family Day Oct 11th
Plan on an ALL DAY/part of the EVENING EVENT
Meet up that morning at
(time to be set yet)
Columbiana Centre Mall
100 Columbiana Circle
Columbia, South Carolina 29212
Out in the parking lot in front of the Antique Carousel.
From there we will cruise over to Riverbanks Zoo for a day of fun with the animals (I mean the ones at the zoo, not our members..LOL)
Plan on doing lunch at the zoo. (Maybe we can all bring stuff and have a picnic there)
After our day at the zoo, our Cola crew will lead us over to Fat Boys for the cruise-in that night.
This event is open to all members, and there families and friends, kids and grand kids.
I'll be contacting the zoo about group discounts and what not in the next week or so.
Everyone has a two month notice, SO Put in for time off so you can make it!!! We need to have a good size group for this one gang!!!
More details to come as time gets closer.

Bones,
Did you call the mall about parking? Because parking in front of the mall in the middle of the day on Saturday will be impossible unless it is roped off.

What you got in mind Croft? Just remember we need something easy for us to get to from I-26, as some may not know the area to well.

Bones.... the next exit down is Piney Grove Rd exit.... there is a "Sportsmans Warehouse on the other side of 26 at this exit .... the parking lot is usually pretty open.... the 26 on ramp from this exit is good .... long and can be used to regroup for the "1st annual foxbody cruise to the zoo" heheheheh

well i was thinking the same exit, just a lil further down.... there is a pretty good size lot were there is never anybody there, like 2 lights down from were yall would be turning into the mall. go just a lil further rite past rushes and sonics, and its rite there on the right. or you can go down to the light (which will help yall gettin out...) and there it is.

Sportsman's warehouse is my vote. Plenty of room in the lot and easy access on and off I26. Harbison on Saturday is not pretty.:thumbsdown1:

Bones,
We can get a group rate if we have at least 15 people and register at least 2 weeks in advance. Here's the rate schedule:
Group: Adult $7.00, age 3-12 $5.75, under 3 Free
Individual: Adult $9.75, age 3-12 $7.25, under 3 Free
If we go in as a group, we have to pay lump sum "in as large a denomination as possible." (I don't think they really care as long as they get the $, but that's what the site says.)

sportsman is fine, but you gatta rember it is huntin season....
93volpe
08-21-2008, 03:22 PM
the parking lot is plenty big enough (I don't think there will be more than 15 or 20 hunters picking up supplies at one time there) and this location sure beats the hassle of Harbison 's Sat traffic that would most likely split the group up as anybody that goes out there can atest to ..... Piney Grove does have two lites to deal with but is much easier and driver friendly and has way less aggrevating traffic ..... not to mention the loooooooong on ramp ....

Sounds good...but I live right near the Sportsman's Warehouse and it is VERY busy on Saturday's.
Books-A-Million has a huge parking lot, and is normally not that busy. Its on Harbison, right near the mall. That is my suggestion.

How many people are coming?
92notchjs
08-21-2008, 08:01 PM
I'm comin...Sportsmans warehouse sounds good to me...the side of the building closest to 26 or top corner closet to 26 is never filled in that lot.

I also thought about this.... Dutch Square...meet up on the Ruby Tues end ... when ready to go to the zoo... straight across at the lite down Colonial Life Blvd .... if you stay in that on ramp lane for I-126... it becomes the off ramp lane for the zoo
you take the Bush River Rd exit... 4th exit down after the Harbison exit.... make a left D/S is at the 3rd lite..... top of the hill ..... if you need gas .... there is a Raceway, Race Trac and a Murphy/Wal mart to the right at the lite when you exit for Bush River Rd.... I filled up at Murphy last Fri for $3.33/gl

Something else not thought about, or at least mentioned...
If you're wanting to all park together once at Fat Boys, you'll need a good count ahead of time, THEN have someone at the Fat Boys parking lot there ahead of time to rope off a section!
The Chevy Club (even though it's pretty much u/stood, ha), have a select spot, but even THEY get there early often and rope off thier domain.
Wuddya say Bones...will about 3 acres do it for ya? :)

93volpe, 92notchjs, TwistedSS, & Blacksheep; Ya'll guys talk it among yourselves in PMs or even phone and decide what is best. Ya'll know the area alot better than most of us.
Once ya'll decide, post up and we will go from there.

Gas in the Cola area is easy to find, and on average at most places is 3.75.... here in little ole out of the way B/L it is 3.55 tonite... and also heard that atleast one station in Orangeburg was 3.11 ..... the stations that are out seem to be getting fewer and fewer .... in most cases mid grade or premium is not available at every store but everybody seems to have regular
my 2 cents if the gas issue were to make or break the decision for any of y'all to come down to Cola-town for the zoo and the Fat Boy's cruise in
As for a meeting place the old no-tell motel (Thunderbird Motel) on St Andrews Rd.... after you exit off I-26 turn right... this accel lane is also the turn lane where the motel is Right turn off St Andrews then rt into the parking lot...... so there is no need to merge over .... you can see the motel and an old Western Steer steak house (don't what it is now)
From I-77 take I-20W towards Augusta then take I-26W towards Greenville/Spartanburg.... no need to merge hereas this accel lane will become the St Andrews West Exit..... hang a RT at the top of the hill
Bones.... set the time if y'all still want to do this..... or if y'all just want to do the FatBoy's cruise in....
