Daym... did you pull it out of Katrina !

No, I left it with my mechanic/friend to have a motor put in it in April. One month after I put it in, I got laid off, so buying parts ground to a halt until July. It took me until early september to get all my ducks in a row, and then I had my accident. Haven't worked since. SO, the car has been sitting at his house waiting on me to buy the last few pieces of the puzzle. So thats why its nasty. Also, his tech quit. He has decided to let me use his shop [lift, tools, dyno :taunt: etc etc] until I got it running. He'd even help/teach me how to install/degree the cam, measure for pushrods, change out the pinion bearing, setting the pinion anglesince i have to modify the crossmember to keep my Tremec from vibrating [Fox body Mustangs have a drop in Tremec crossmember... BS!!!] and whatever else I needed help with. Also, he offered me a part time job working on Mustangs. I'm sooo there!!!

I finally drove my stang home today!! A hard fought victory for the home team!!!!! She runs better than she ever did, and I havent had a problem with the idle surging since I put on some new o2s.

I had to change one plug wire to cure a miss, swap in the battery from my fox and had 0 problems on the ride home. Well, except i had to stop and clean the windshield. yuck...

I can tell you this from one 45 mile drive;

My brand new throw-out bearing is now chirping a little bit and the cruise control only worked when it felt like it.
The front end bounced a little bit, likely from the blown struts. Reminded me of my minitruckin' days. :D
I must fix the a/c and put my cd player back in. I also have to figure out how to put the computer in its place.
My steering seems to have some play that more noticable with speed. I need c/c plates and maybe a bumpsteer kit?
I want to install my explorer intake sometime soon. I wanna help my baby breathe!!
Lastly, I need to put the sway bar back on too. I don't like that much body roll. Paint can wait, you cant see it from the driver's seat =]

So much has changed since I last posted in here. I did install the explorer intake and a much larger cone filter, per Rick Anderson's advice and that netted me 243 rwhp and 292 lb ft of torque. That made for a fun daily driver, but of course, the e7 heads kept the fun below 5500 rpms. I added a 95 Cobra front sway bar with energy suspension endlinks and sway bar bushings to complement the 96 Cobra rear sway bar. That really tightened up the steering input and showed me my tires couldn"t keep up. Then the unfortunate happened in October. The oil pump locked up and the engine ate itself before I could pull over. Not one to be deterred, I've since bought a 351 SVO block and I'm currently building a 408w. Stay tuned!

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d73/oldawgnewtrikz/93%20gt/P4030523-1.jpg

…back on the road. The stock aod took a crap, so I'm nearly done replacing it but thats all in a different build thread. I'm hung up on what cam to go with. I have a bit of a restrictive intake (edelbrock performer rpm efi 351) and I'm probably gonna run some "cheap" procomp 210cc heads to keep hp within reason on my "street" car. I fully intend on a turbo but it'll be at least a year or so down the road before that gets bolted on. Guess I'll have to have one "custom figured out" for me. I really don't want it to have a nasty idle, ya know, for the sneakiness factor. ;)

I decided to install my new headlights today. My poor GT has sat in a state of disrepair (at least it's on concrete this time!!) for nearly six months and I just needed to spin some wrenches on my baby. Also, for the first time in two years, I was able to properly install my HIDs.. No mo tape and hose clamps here LOL!!! I wasn't very thrilled with the fit and finished but you get what you pay for. I was able to make a few modifications and they fit much better now.

How'd those S197 seats fit? Did your SN95 tracks bolt right up?

blue93
05-06-2010, 01:55 PM
all I had to do was take a few measurements and drill a few holes to get the sn95 brackets to fit:

I fully intend to use the now-defunct power seat/lumber controls to power maybe a n2o kit or a line lock for sneakiness.

Thanks for the compliment on the wheels, I wanted something out-of-the-ordinary..

hmmmm...maybe a project for my '00 GT???? how do they fit...any excessive rubbing on the center console or interference with the door panels. Those S197's have a little larger interior...don't they??

blue93
05-07-2010, 09:54 AM
The key to that is installing the outboard seat rail just outside of the pre-existing holes. The holes for the sn95 brackets are to be 14" center to center. As you can see, the picture I took was befor I figured all this out. I have to pull the drivers seat out and relocate the bracket over an inch. Also, I recommend either a spacer (washers) or bending the slider arm down some to clear the seat front and plastic edge. Very easy swap, mine are manual so I can't help with wiring up the switch.

update for 21 April 2012

I decided to mock the intake up to check the fit with the tall valve covers and quickly remembered (from years of reading that somehow slipped my mind) one must install an intake spacer to allow enough clearance. So, it's either a 1" phenolic spacer or a fox throttle body swap.... One spacer on the way!! I like the simpler/cleaner fox-esque tbody setup BUT that can come later.

The AEM fuel pressure regulator, feed and return lines are mounted. Just needs a crossover line plumbed and the incoming lines ran. Those with eagle eyes will notice the modified heater tube to heater core make-up. The 351's large deck height moves everything outward which meant more obscure (read: easily forgettable) oem parts wouldn't fit. We also are having issues finding a thermostat to water pump hose that'll fit. Mainly because of the inlet and outlet sizes differ.
