View Full Version : please pray for my son

My oldest boy Tyler has been sick for a week, when Farah took him to the dr Friday he was diagnosed with having mono induced hepatitis and had to go to the hosp for a liver panel or something like that. No school for a week and no basketball for 4 weeks as they are concerned with his spleen rupturing, they also told us if he has any abdominal pain to go to the ER.......well at 5:30am today he came downstairs throwing up and stomach pain so Farah took him to the ER, please pray that this passes soon and hopefully no need for surgery.

It's looking like they are going to admit Tyler into the hospital to keep the IV in to hydrate him, plus keep him on the pain meds and nausea meds as well, but the problem they have right now is the hospital they are at doesn't take pediactric patients.....but Tyler is bigger than most adults at 6 ft 8. the Doctor is trying to let them admit him anyways.....
Again thanks to everyone for your prayers.

Ok, so instead of admitting him into a room, there are going to keep him in the ER until tomorrow. The ER dr cannot admit anyone into the hospital only recommend, the hosp staff drs have to admit. None of the hosp dr's are trained in "pediatrics" (even though the boy is 6ft 8 215) they will not admit him into a room. They are supposed to be moving a longer bed into one of the ER rooms because his legs are longer than the beds in the ER. Funny thing is I thought ALL hospitals had rooms for kids.......guess we found out different. At least its not serious enough to require surgery, hopefully after they get all these fluids in him he will be on the road to recovery

Thanks again for everyones prayers and well wishes.
Last update I got the meds they were giving him were not bringing the fever he had down, so they transferred him from the Village@Pelham ER to Greenville Memorial Hospital off of Patewood. Temp is down now and Farah said he's been asleep most of the day. I know the doctors are going to do everything they can for him......just hope it clears up soon! Poor Farah its not the Mothers Day we expected, but we just shouldn't take anything for granted.
Again it means the world to me for all the responses and such. We are truly family here. :patriot:

Well, Tyler is home. No bleeding in the spleen, but according to the doctors, there isn't really a cure for this, just have to let it run its course. They say this should have been the worst of it, and after the IV to rehydrate him there wasn't anything they could do for him there that wasn't something we could do here. Still have a long road ahead of us......but at least they have not had to perform surgery on his liver or spleen.
Thanks guys and gals, just keep on praying

Surgery went well last night, they found an abcess in his throat area. They had to knock him out to drain it as it was deep in his throat and very close to his vocal cords. They got 8oz out last night and are continuing to drain it for a couple days. Farah says he is looking, feeling and doing much better since yesterday..........Thank you God!!!!!!

Still praying for him. Is he still at the hospital?
Yes, he is still in. Got word while at church that they at first thought his gall bladder may have been infected causing his stomach pain.......not so, the infection has spread into the cavity below the heart.....they are supposed to be putting in a chest tube to drain, havent heard when. But if it is like the drain for his throat it will make a difference.

They did it today from 4 to 6ish. He's got as many drain tubes as my sunroof does :sad1: but if it means ridding his body of this infection then so be it. Hopefully they won't have to go back and do any further surgical procedures...but the doctor left it open as the infection is very serious. He will be there for at least another week.

He is getting better, think they are taking the last drain out of him today. Still has some fluid in stomach area they are trying some meds to break it up and dissolve it, if not he will need another surgery to rectify it. Should know in a couple of days if they have to go in, if they get rid of it he will be good to go home. They have said the infection he had was very serious and could have cost him his life had they not caught the infection when they did. Still a long road to recovery still, but in the last week we have come a long way.
I want to personally thank each and everyone on here who has said a prayer, called, emailed or texted me during this time.....its been a rough road but thanks to God and the power of prayer Tyler is on his way back to us.
