ok when replacing my heater core I went ahead and swapped in the 160 mph ssp cluster for my 85 mph cluster. but like I was told by other members it wouldnt work as a strait swap since I have a 89 and its out of a 90+ ssp. so things dont all wrok like they are supposed to, like when I take the parking brake off the check oil lite comes on and what I thought was a burned out bulb in the tach area actually works but is the right blinker lol. :p

so instead of rewiring the car was wondering how to take out just the mph guage and swap into my other one? or I found a place that takes your stock guage and recailibrates it and puts a new 185 mph face on it. really dont think I will ever go that fast.

pics are appriciated, thanks.:thumbsup1:

ok to anwser my question you must first remove the cluster from the dash (obviously) then remove the screws that hold the plastic lens in place. after that the black housing comes off. then you just push the guage from the back and it pops right out.

now that I did that I quickly discovered that swapping the 90+ speedo out for the 87-89 speedo was not going to work because of shape differences. so just went ahead and installed the old cluster back in the car. and ford can take that stupid speedo cable and stick it up their ASS! wow talk about a major pain.

so if anyone is looking for a 90-93 ssp 160 mph cluster I got one for sale.

ya I heard you could rewire but at this time I am so mad at it I dont want to ever take it off again lol. maybe down the road I will do this again when it comes time to do something behind the dash. thanks for the offer though.

I've got it and now back to the top of the thread... My ride is a 92 (SSP) it now has 4.10's and I have the 160 M.P.H. speedo to put back the car. I do not know if someone switched the other because not all (SSP)'s had the 160. So to calibrate this whole deal what do I need to do to get it right ? Thanks, D
