just wondering if you guys have any tricks to make a aod car run faster it seems like the aod is holding the car back when it takes off it lags bad between 800 to 2800 then it picks up the car ran 97.7 mph in the 1/4 that seems like a good mph for a stock car

What torque converter are you running? Also is the AOD stock, or has it been built?

Make it easier for the trans to get the car moving... AODs like 3.73:1 gears for the rear. Some swear by 4.10 and don't forget about adding a trans cooler.

it is a stock aod no stall but it has a trans pack witch is nothing but a shift kit and it has a 3.73 gear in the rear what stall do you think would help it but not hurt the driveability because this is my dd?

A shot of nitrous will help yoi. get moving. I agree a looser stall will help a lot

Converter, gears, shift kit, then if all else fails, 4R70W gearset.

Give Dan at Silverfox a call. He can build a nice valvebody for the AOD.:yes1:

Thats what is inside of my AOD, and wouldn't run anything else.

watching this thread with interest. I have an aod, 19-2400 stall. After I put the stall converter in, I had to adjust the TV lever almost all the way down. I did it "by the book" initially, and it was way way off. I don't think it has a shift kit in it, but it shifts pretty hard (always had, owner of the last car it was in said the same thing). 4.10's are sitting in a box on the garage floor waiting for my broke lazy *** to put them in (well there's a whole rear-end waiting to be installed but that's another thread:lol1:). I'm curious how yours turns out as I'm doing the same thing. Butt-o-meter tells me I'm sorry until about 2500 rpm's then the car hauls. That probably has more to do with the carb (way too big).

Got that right!!!
Liek everyone else stated a good converter, gears, shift kit at min, but a good valve body is the way to go. OD on swtich and can hold 1st & 2nd gear to what ever RPM you want to shift at...

2800-3000 stall for stock motor.
my best et with stock motor and bolt-ons was 12.88@102 "3000stall lockup"
then went 12.55@107 with gt-40 heads and 1.7 rockers."3000stall lockup"
new best i added b-cam and explorer intake but unlocked converter and restalled but its too loose now "4600stall" 12.51@100mph converter is going to be restalled to 3600 i hope. then i plan on high 12.3's
