Bones started the one on the user name so I'll start one on car names

What is it and how did it come about ?

Our 93 Hatch is "Sweety". After looking at the the car the day the previous owner brought it home ... his dad told him "son...you've got a real sweety there".... and from that day on she has been known as Sweety.... Even when his friends would ask about him going out for supper... it was.. "are you and Sweety coming?" or "Are you bringing Sweety with you?"

that is all

Mine's "Sonic Cherry". A guy on Stangnet called it that once and I thought it was pretty cool, and that was that ever since :)

my 02 vert is Da Pony and my fox is Blam Blam.

Blam Blam got her name from all the noise she makes while she is running.
Music to my ears LOL.

Everyone around here calls her my name too, which is pretty funny.

The 4 banger is The Official Pace Car for The Ponies of the Piedmont LOL
so we just call her The Pace Car and sometimes Slow Fox

Hey when you have a yard full of foxes you gotta name them.

Eric has never named his, he is just not fun, maybe he will whenever he gets the dang thing finished

i often refer to mine as redemption. last few years have been very hard. so most often thoughts, dreams and current restoring, modding of the car has been my own redemption from the bad times.

We have a few here, though not as many as some LOL !!!

Jen's Explorer is called the "Exploder"- as most folks at Ford referred to them when I worked there...

The Honda Civic is called the "CHTvic"- The sewage systems aboard Navy ships along with the storage tanks/pipes are all referred to by "CHT". Since I HAAAAAATE the Honda other than it's prowess at mpg, I decided to call it the CHT-vic instead of Civic, it stuck...

The 90F-150 is referred to as "The Beatertruck"- no imagination required here...

The Lightning is usually referred to as the "5000lb brick", "The L", or "The Farmtruck"- usually good for a laugh...

I didn't want to name the 92 SSP as it seemed that everyone I knew had names for their cars, and they had even developed followings of their own ( Bones can tell ya about Leia, Domino, and numerous others we know of ) on various sites. So like my non screen name screen name, I decided that "the Coupe" was not to ever receive a nickname. In the process though, it wound up with a nickname anyway..."The Coupe" HAHA !!!

"Dingy" is the name that stuck with my coupe. Reason is that it is a dirty or "Dingy" white color.

It is funny how we name things that are close to us. As I read all of your names I am takin' back to my grandfather and his stories of WWII as a bomber pilot and all the funny names that the pilots gave their bombers. Whether it be of a girl from back home, their mothers name, or just to show what the Germans/Japanese had coming to them. Let me elaberate on my Mustang's name "Florence (FLO)". During WWII my grandfather piloted a B-26 Marauder over the skies of Germany, France, and U.K. While over seas my grandfather was dating my grandmother and her name was Florence......so of course my grandfather named his B-26 after his girlfriend at the time and now my grandmother.... He did take on heavy flak and gun damage once resulting in having to set the plane down (crashing/landing in friendly territory..... thankfully) and a month later he had a new B-26 called Florence "II"........:patriot::thumbsup1:
