Hello,
I need to clean the grime and grease from my engine compartment and undercarriage.
I was thinking of using liberal amounts of degreaser then a steam cleaner. I am concerned that some of the sensors in the engine compartment may not react well to the cleaning.
Recommendations, suggestions, cautions? All info welcome. Thanks.

i use simple green.. its not alkalined based and wont hurt paint or coroad alluminum! i spray it all over the engine and engine compartment.. scrub the tough areas then spray off... ive been using this stuff for years with no problems! hope this helps ya

Do exactally what your thinkin of doing. Just dont hold the pressure close to the sensors. Heat is the trick, that and high pressure (pressure washer) A normall water hose puts out large amounts of water with low pressure, but a pressure washer does the oppsite.

wd-40. I love the stuff. buy it by the gallon. I spray down the whole engine bay with it and let it soak for a few minutes and then use a pressure washer on it. its a degreaser, won't harm electronics and after you get done washing it all, let it dry and then spray it with wd-40 again. using a clean rag, wipe up the excess and your engine bay will look brand new and shiney

Great suggestions. I'm very intrigued by the wd-40 method. I'll try to get some pics of before and after.
Thanks all. :thumbsup1:

Yeah do that. I need to clean my engine bay as well, so I'm curious to see.

simple green, dawn dish soap or a citrus based cleaner.
