Im very new here so Im hoping I can get some help. I bought an 87 GT and Im having to redo alot of things. Ive got pretty much everything done that needs being done to this point. Now for some reason I am not getting power to my fuel pump. Im getting power to the inertia switch but not to the pump whic is what...a freaking foot away?!?!?! I have changed out the relay under the drivers seat and the one in the engine compartment. Still nothing :( when I jump from the inertia switch over to the pump it will run but I hear the buzzing of another relay in the dash. Im considering just hooking a straight wire with a toggle switch and say screw it. I cant remember whether or not the fuel pump runs non-stop or not. It being an internal I think the way it is designed it will be ok...any feedback will be GREATLY APPRECIATED! :bat:

replace the internia switch sounds like it may be bad....Or make it tripp on purpose and reset it,and see if that helps.......

I have an 88 fox convert that is 100% perfect (in my eyes at least lol) I switched the inertia switch from it to the GT and still got nothing. I am really thinking strongly of just putting in the toggle swith. Im tired of messing with it. I am ready to get it on the road lol. Thanks for the help though bud :D

What two wires did you jumper on the inertia switch?? If you jumper the Red to the Red/Black wire and it runs continuously then you have a PCM problem and a Inertia switch problem. The power from a fuse comes into the inertia switch via the red wire and leaves the inertia via the red/black wire going to the control side of the relay, the ground side of the relay is controlled by the processor(PCM) via a tan/light green wire. The controlled side of the relay is sent power via a orange/blue wire and the power is sent out via a pink/black wire. Go to the relay and jumper the orange/blue to the pink/black and see if it runs. If it does the feed side to the pump and pump ground are good. Then jumper the red to the red/black and see if the pump runs 2-7 secs. and cuts off when you turn the key on. If it runs 24/7 then then processor is commanding it and the processor is bad or you have a short to ground on the tan and light green wire. Don't do a toggle switch on the fuel pump that is the total 100% rigged and the wrong way to do it. FIX IT THE RIGHT WAY!!!!!!

First of all something very important to remember. The fact that you are new means nothing to us. Ask away, that s what we are here for. As for your problem at hand. Have you pulled a wiring diagram of the circuit in question? A haynes or Chilton Manual is not expensive and will help you tremendously. If you have power at the one side of the Inertia switch and nothing on the other side then the switch is bad.
