One of the most popular shows on the Speed network will pay a visit to zMax Dragway next year.
"Pinks All Out" will bring its cameras to the drag strip in Concord on April 25 as part of its 2009 season. The event will be taped for broadcast later next year.
The show's host and creator is Rich Christensen. It traditionally draws several hundred grassroots drag racers to each event. The racers make two runs "all out" in their cars, and then Christensen and his team select a close grouping of 16 times to compete in a bracket for a $10,000 prize. Racers who try to "sandbag" or guess the time that will be picked are disqualified.
"ZMax Dragway is the perfect venue to host one of the largest 'Pinks All Out' events in the history of the show," said Christian Byrd, general manager of zMax Dragway. "With four lanes and a state-of-the-art facility both fans and competitors are in for a spectacular show."
Details on how to enter the competition or to buy tickets to see the event will be announced later.
When "Pinks All Out" visited Rockingham Dragway in May 2007, 300 spots in the competition filled up in about 48 hours.
" 'Pinks' has generated more excitement at 'The Rock' than the Metallica concert we had several years ago," track owner Steve Earwood said of that event.
