T-5 ALOT of noise

well i got the new motor in and its MUCH more stout than the stocker lol. now when i stand on it my stock T-5 sounds like its popping popcorn inside it lol. just driving normal it shifts great but still has a small whine. almost all of the sound is in 2nd and 3rd gear. im kinda worried coz i dont have the money for a tko right now. i been babying it so far. maybe bearings are worn and letting cluster move around? any ideas?

lol thats what i was thinking. prolly gona try to send it to my tranny guy and see if i can do an overhaul and make it last a while longer lol.

Its weird how that start making that poping sound. I have heard it a many of times. The last one I broke was doing that on the way home from the track. Another guy following me wanted to run. I told him if I hit third it would break. And sure enough shifted from 2 to 3rd and let off the clutch pop. Push the clutch back in and put in back in to 4th...lol

Could be a simple fix. You need to remove it and check the amouth the input shaft is shimmed. If it is not prper then the Input Shaft and the Main shaft are moving around. This is obvioulsy not good. Can cause quick damage.

If you are spinning the motor harder, the gears are working harder and will possibly make more noise

yeah that makes sense. this motor pulls hard to 7k lol. i definitely need to check it out soon. dont wana ruin a good tranny if i can fix it easily.

i would just baby the hell outa it and upgrade as soon as u could afford to me and my pops has a 86 gt with some bolt ons and went threw 3 stock t-5s

About the only cheap way is to make sure they are shimmed up right.
