I've heard of that before. When I stayed in Daytona two or three years ago you had to be like 23 or so. Id call back and tell them your with the group and see if that helps.

I did, I said I am with SEFB and I am coming for the car show. She said well Im sorry your not 23. Then she said I would have to talk to a manager. Maybe Ill call back before 5pm and try again..

Is there anyone in particular that you guys talked to that I might be able to talk?? I just dont understand.. she said they were a family oriented hotel.. I am going for "F-1" which is a single bed on the southside..
this is a rule they use and enforce. its to keep the rowdy highschool/college kids out to it can stay a more family friendly environment. saw plenty of shenanigans last year on spring break.
being 21 myself... i just bring my dad :)

I just got my buddy to go with his g/f, she is over 23... Get someone to book it for you in the club, pay them back, and get them to check you in, give you the key. Done.

your going to have to book it with a credit card, so just tell them you are over the age. or just have a man call with a deep voice. they didnt even ask my age.

Last year my oldest daughter, which was 22 at the time, booked a room at another motel. When she and her friends got there, they told her the same thing. She had to be 23 to register. She went off on them and told them that they didn't say anything about it when she booked the room and didn't have any trouble taking the money out of her account. Anyway, her fiance was the only one over 23 and they let her register.:lol1:...She's a little firecracker. My point, yes I've heard of the age limit. :lol1:

the only view from the tiki building is the "Do a Wheelie" view. lol
I hate the fact that they do that crap... heck man, like abcstyers, some FAMILIES are under the age of 23
If they give me trouble I'll just tell them "fine, I'll spend my money on another hotel, and I'll hang my happy @$$ out at the Tiki building any way."
hope it works out!!

But what happens when they ask for your ID, when checking in?
Mustangjunki3

The only thing I am concerned about is them checking ID's when you get to the hotel to check in.. She had told me that we both had to be 23 years of age and we would have to show her our ID'd when we got there and also the credit card we used to book the room! .....

ya would defiantly suck to book it and then get turned away because of age. I will tell you that last year you could not find a room, everything was booked so I hope you get things figured out before then.
Mustangjunki3
01-20-2010, 08:59 PM
Yeah I know.. Im concerned for the people who are under 23 and they didnt say anything to them about the age requirement.. what happens when they get there and they are denied the room bc of age.. thatll be messed upp.. but Ill know what I am doing by tomorrow morning bc like I said I am talking to a manager.

You might just tell them that you are married. The hotel I worked at the age limit was 25 to reserve a room, but we made exceptions for married couples. Technically this practice is illegal, per the SC inkeepers act you can require an age limit, but cannot let familial relations affect your rental policy, so it's one of those under the table things that eveyone in Myrtle Beach does.. Good Luck, and definitely talk to a manager because sometimes the people that haven't been there as long might be trying to follow their trained policy, but a manager will know the significance of your sefb affiliation.

Congrats on getting your room.. The age thing sux, but Myrtle Beach used to have major problems during Senior Week.. I cant believe they would have a problem since your are with the Car Club that uses them as a host hotel

I remember getting rooms at 16 in Daytona, Orlando, and S. FL, all they cared for back then, was that you had the cash to pay for the room.:yes1:
Yes, the times sure have changed, and we have got old.:sad1:

I was 20 last year, so when I got my slip in the mail and it said I had to be 23 I called them. I told the woman how old I was and I said I wanted to be with the SEFB people. She told me to hold on (guess she talked to someone) and came back and said it's ok, "As long as you aren't rasin' kane." No idea what kane is or how you spell it. ^^
Hopefully it'll all be good this year too because I really suck at lying.

what i would do is this go in with someone that is 23 and have them book two rooms one for u and one for them and when yall out of site give the money for the room. and if they ask why u need two rooms just say that one is for the two of u and the other one is for another friend thats comin later and u just wanted two rooms that was close to each other. :thumbsup1: if u dont like the idea its cool and i hope u get the room.
