Ok,so this is my first real thread, but I need some help.I am looking into a 302 shortblock that is now a 347,requires a little freshening up.Wanted to see what you think about it?

Next option was rebuild my 302,put on some 185-205 AFR or trickflow heads,do a 750 Quickfuel carb and an RPM performer intake?not really sure on a cam yet, most likely a custom grind.

I would like some advice on my best route for a nice "budget freindly"street car. I am very confused with what to do at the moment, but I need to make a decision very soon, like in a week or so.
I have found the machine/engine builder that is going to the work, just need the advice/help.

if it's in the budget i would just freshen the 347.

The only thing I would like to know is what exactly would be ncluded in freshening up? Rings, bearings?Would I still be able to use the internals or would I have tto replace it? He says all the machine work has been done and everyhting is assembled but it has been sitting for a while.

You kind of have to define "budget" If you can get the 347 cheap and put new bearings and rings, would not be bad. But you can make a real nice street motor for basicly the same amount of money. You are gonna have to build one either way. might be a better choice to use what you got and go from there. my 2 pennies

You should be good with just the basic rebuild kit (rings, bearings, gaskets). Check the crank, and make sure the bearing journals are free of any scaring or pits. Clean everything real good (which i'm sure your engine builder will do), and should be good to go.

Ok I am going to call the builder first thing in the morning and I will probably send my wife to go pick it up.I hope that everything will be ok with it though.I think I will be happier in the long run with more hp/torque and getting my car back together .

Has the 347 been ran since it was built? And how much is seller asking? I built a nice NA 347 last for a guy using a kit from Summit. It was an eagle 347 rotating assembly with TRW hyper pistons for $995. It came with balancer, flexplate and balanced, all you need is a block. For about $1500 could have new 347 short block.

One of the Mustang mags just did an aritcle abotu a 347 short block with stock upper half. It made decent power and crazy torque, but di run out of stream around 5k... Then they swapped on head, intake, cam, and it picked up about 100hp. So could build stroker short block now and add supporting hardware as funds permit..

The 347 fell through,it turned out when I got the macine shop and had it all checked out it was a 302,nothing special, but he was a great guy and gave me my money back. Man it sucked though b/c I was excited about getting a 347 under the hood.

Dang man that sucks,,,, here is the kit I got from summit..----> Eagle 347 kit (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ESP-B16422LA030/).. All you need is a machined block. Not a bad kit if you dont plan on Power Adder..

I just decided to go with a 306,I will probably build a stroked 351 later on.
Maybe I can find something better later on.
